JMA Wireless’ Teko DAS Platform is Powering Super Bowl 50 and Prominent Sports Venues around the Globe

The fastest growing DAS solution in the industry is enabling the ultimate fan experience

Liverpool, NY – November 4, 2015 -- JMA Wireless, a global innovator of wireless communications solutions, has created quite the stir as the developer of the platform behind what may be the largest DAS (Distributed Antenna System) installation in the world at Super Bowl 50 to be held at Levi’s® Stadium on February 7, 2016.  This same leading edge technology has been deployed at numerous, large scale venues around the globe, resulting in significant growth for JMA Wireless in the sports industry.

“The demand for better cellular service in stadiums is at an all-time high,” stated Todd Landry, Corporate Vice President of Product and Market Strategy at JMA Wireless.  “Carriers, integrators, and neutral hosts need to deliver more signal per dollar and the Teko DAS is the best in the industry to achieve this goal.”

The Teko DAS platform is chosen more than any other one because it uniquely addresses numerous cost of ownership issues, including both capital and operation costs.  In addition, JMA Wireless develops all of the critical RF technology for its solutions, resulting in better overall signal performance - a crucial factor for the end user experience.  Its in-house technology development has enabled the company to be the first in the industry to support the latest frequency bands purchased by carriers for their billions of subscribers.  This has resulted in quick utilization of new spectrum.

“JMA Wireless has come on strong across the sports industry,” said Joe Madden, CEO of Mobile Experts.  “Their increased efforts have resulted in a near doubling of their market share across many vertical markets just in the first half of 2015.”

Leading carriers, AT&T and Verizon, both recently experienced the superior results achieved with the Teko DAS.  AT&T boosted its cellular coverage at Purdue University’s Ross-Ade Football Stadium while Verizon provided a superior experience for fans at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway thanks to JMA’s DAS solution.

JMA Wireless’ modular Teko DAS supports multiple operators, multiple bands, and several mobile technologies such as LTE, UMTS and more, making it an ideal solution for large sports venues.  This solution can be installed onsite or off-premise.  DAS deployments involve placement of Remote Units (RUs), which vary in power from very high to low.  This cost effective solution uses a single optical fiber, which is 50% to 75% less than competitive offerings, to distribute multiple frequency bands and multiple carriers from the rack mounted Master Unit (MU) to one or multiple Remote Units.  The Teko DAS supports the different power level units automatically and brings the proper level to the BTS (Base Transceiver Station).

The off-premise option or C-DAS (Centralized Distributed Antenna System) is supported by the Teko platform as well.  The critical mobile processing equipment is off-premise, but the robust antenna and amplifier technologies are located onsite.  This centralized approach preserves valuable real estate in stadiums and arenas, resulting in greater economies of scale and decreasing the TCO (total cost of ownership).  The system’s antennas can be redirected remotely to certain areas of a venue to provide robust wireless coverage during game day or large events such as a concert.  In addition, with the C-DAS approach, capacity not used by surrounding businesses on the week-ends can be reallocated to the stadium and/or arena, creating better utilization of spectrum.

The Teko DAS solution enables the use and management of Remote Units with a single system, providing ample coverage and capacity both inside and outside the facility.  Tailgaters and spectating fans alike receive the same powerful cellular coverage and capacity needed to send video, text and voice messages.
