JMA Wireless Sponsors and Presents at DAS and Small Cells Congress

Attendees can experience the next generation of JMA’s Teko DAS platform

New Orleans, LA [DAS and Small Cells Congress] – June 8, 2015 -- JMA Wireless, a global innovator of wireless communications solutions, is an Associate Sponsor of the DAS and Small Cells Congress taking place June 8-10 at The Roosevelt in New Orleans.  In addition to sponsoring the event, JMA Wireless’ Business Development Director and renowned industry expert, Morten Tolstrup, will be presenting a session focused on the functions of DAS (distributed antenna system) and the areas of digital consideration.  At the JMA booth #200 attendees also can experience the next generation of the Teko DAS platform known as C-DAS or Centralized Distributed Antenna System.  C-DAS provides significantly better utilization by centralizing resources to enable cellular coverage and capacity for various environments such as metro areas and campuses.

The C-DAS solution preserves valuable onsite real estate by enabling centralized RAN serving locations or central BTS (Base Transceiver Station) hotels to support the cellular coverage and capacity needs of the surrounding venues.  Multiple operators and multiple bands are converged onto a minimum set of fiber, thereby, reducing the required connectivity to locations by up to 10 times.  Centralized administration uses an integral supervisory channel across the fiber to streamline operations.

Attendees can experience the TCM3-4 Capacity Manager module and its TWS4 four port RF switch module, which allows the C-DAS architecture to reutilize sectors across an area and support a reduction in head-end eNodeB equipment by up to 25 percent.  The C-DAS architecture with Capacity Manager achieves this by utilizing only a single fiber per remote unit.  This solution enables engineers to redirect sectors used during the week by a business center to a nearby stadium during a major sporting event on the week-end, ensuring the cellular coverage and capacity needed.  These configurations are facilitated by Teko’s OMT (Operation and Maintenance Terminal), resulting in minimal manual intervention and a reduction in costly site visits.

“Many campuses or metro areas include a mixture of sports stadiums, entertainment venues and business offices.  With the C-DAS solution it is easy to reallocate resources as necessary to ensure superior cellular coverage and capacity,” stated Todd Landry, Corporate Vice President of Product and Market Strategy at JMA Wireless.

In addition to demonstrating C-DAS, JMA Wireless also will display its extensive portfolio of universal compression connectors, antenna options, and factory-built jumpers, which are PIM optimized and engineered for macro, small cell, outdoor DAS and in-building DAS needs.  Attendees can experience these solutions at the JMA Wireless booth (#200).

Morten Tolstrup, Business Development Director for JMA Wireless and author of the book titled Indoor Radio Planning:  A Practical Guide for GSM, DCS, UMTS, HSPA and LTE, will be presenting on “Achieving Flexibility and Capacity with Fiber-based DAS” at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 9.
