JMA Wireless NWAV Technology Portfolio Adds New Cell Site Power Boost Solution

Industry’s smallest footprint significantly reduces cell site costs to power radio equipment expansion on towers

San Francisco, CA, September 14, 2017 [Mobile World Congress Americas] -- JMA Wireless, a global leader of wireless communications solutions, expanded its NWAV™ portfolio today with the launch of NWAV Power Boost technology. This new offering, engineered in collaboration with Delta, a major power solution provider for the world’s leading telecom and wireless operators, enables operators to expand tower capacity with higher power radios while leveraging the existing power cable infrastructure, significantly reducing expansion time, cabling costs, and incremental tower loading.

NWAV Power Boost innovative intelligence monitors the radio power load and automatically adjusts the DC power source to the radios, ensuring the minimum amount of required electrical current is delivered to power the radios. With intelligent boosting, operators can add radios that require more power to expand cellular service without rewiring or adding new wire. Delta’s extensive experience as a longstanding global leader in the power solutions space, was utilized to engineer an industry-leading compact, high-efficiency and high-density power solution for the NWAV Power Boost. Besides being packaged in the smallest footprint in the industry, NWAV Power Boost also minimizes the amount of cabling required.

“NWAV Power Boost is the most economical way to supply the necessary power to tower radios without incurring the expense of additional cable infrastructure,” said Shawn Chawgo, General Manager of Transmission Systems at JMA Wireless.

“The power solution that was developed for the NWAV Power Boost allows for the overall system to have an extremely compact design, without sacrificing performance. This sets it apart from the competition and affords easier installation as cell sites are becoming more space limited.” said M.S. Huang, President of Delta Americas.

Key characteristics of the new NWAV Power Boost solution include:

  • Lowest Capital/Operational Costs – Existing tower infrastructure can be leveraged to satisfy growing wireless demands. Up to six radios can be powered from a single remote unit (RU), reducing power cabling costs by up to 70 percent.
  • Smallest Footprint – Half the size of alternative solutions, Power Boost offers the smallest footprint in the market for expanding cell site capacity. Space and weight load is not an issue for towers.
  • Operationally Efficient – Thanks to an autonomic design approach, manual calibration is eliminated and power adjustments happen automatically. Power Boost offers the fastest install time in the industry.
  • Scalable Architecture – The modular design allows for easy expansion of the power source, while still minimizing the power cables required.

NWAV Power Boost is available now and is on display in the JMA Wireless booth (South Hall S.930) at Mobile World Congress Americas (September 12 -14, Moscone Center).
